The Drizzt series was my first real introduction to fantasy literature. Haven't read Dragonlance so I can't exactly compare it, but personally, I enjoyed the series. That said, I found the writing in the Dark Elf Trilogy a big improvement from that of Icewind Dale. Not to say that the Icewind Dale Trilogy isn't worth reading though.

Drizzt vs Tiago is one of my favorite duels in fantasy. I have to disagree with Ghost King that one is my low point for the series. Not a big fan. Granted that is mostly from the fallout of everything than the actual battle.
Considering Dark Alliance is coming out later this year, I won't be surprised if D&D chooses to reboot the entire Drizzt series back to the Crystal Shard era. With the line of novels in the current era being pretty much dead -- the last non-Drizzt novel was released back in 2016 -- and the lineup of current and upcoming D&D supplements looking
